Rock band 3 Doors Down announced that it is canceling four upcoming shows due to the arrest of its bassist Todd Harrell. Harrell is accused of driving while intoxicated and killing Paul Howard Shoulders Jr. in a fatal car accident. Harrell was expected to remain jailed until a scheduled court appearance on April 25. Harrell is currently being charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication, violation of the implied consent law, contraband and possession of a controlled substance.
According to police, Harrell clipped Shoulder’s pick-up truck while passing him at a high rate of speed. Shoulder was ejected from his truck after he lost control, smashed through a guardrail and overturned down an embankment. Paramedics said he died in the hospital shortly after arrival. The people that knew Shoulder described him as a nice and thoughtful person, who tried to steer the youth from the streets. 3 Doors Down decided to suspend the shows out of respect for Shoulder’s family and friends.
