WMC-TV reported that a driver under the influence of drugs crashed into the side of Millington High School after a police chase on March 30. A Millington police officer attempted to pull over the driver of an SUV, Marco Dwayne Taylor, who then attempted to evade arrest by speeding away. However, the 27-year-old failed to negotiate a curve in the road while traveling at such a high rate of speed and his car crashed into a wall of the local high school.
The building the SUV crashed into was for the school’s vocational cosmetology program. Fortunately, there were no students inside because the accident occurred on the weekend. “He went all the way up into the room,” Millington Police Investigator Charlie Coleman told WMC. “[The SUV] actually hit the teacher’s desk.”
After a search of his vehicle, authorities believe that a main reason Taylor attempted to evade police was the amount of marijuana he had in his vehicle—enough to warrant a felony drug charge.
