According to the WTVF-TV, several people were injured on August 10 in an MTA bus accident. The crash occurred after 4 p.m., on Charlotte Avenue and 5th Street in downtown Nashville.
Witnesses told WTVF that it looked like “the car was trying to beat the light when it struck the bus while it was making a turn.” Witnesses ran to the scene of the crash, to get the woman out of her car.
“I had to rescue her, her neck was hurting and I had to grab a seatbelt from under her, unbuckle so she could get her out from the car before it catch on fire,” a witness told WTVF. Officials told the station that several people were transported to an area hospital for injuries, the extent of which has not been released.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, in 2008, there were 11,000 bus accidents involving injuries in the United States. In those 11,000 bus crashes, an estimated 24,000 people were injured.
