Science World Report reported last week that trucks or tractor-trailers are involved in 11 percent of all fatal road accidents in the United States.
According to the publication, every year trucks are responsible for nearly 4,500 deaths in the U.S. The results were produced after the news outlet analyzed data from Tennessee accidents that took place over the course of a five-year period.
In the study, researchers examined nearly 1,134 crashes involving 101 single vehicle accidents and 1,033 multi-vehicle crashes, finding that trucks were involved in 11 percent of fatal accidents. According to the study, the leading causes of truck accidents included the percentage of other trucks on the road, speed and weather.
