Hawkins County Ambulance Accident Kills One, Injures Nine

According to the WBIR-TV, one person was killed and nine people were injured, including three children, after an ambulance crashed on July 7 in Hawkins County. The station reported that the ambulance crash happened at the intersection of US Hwy 11 and Silver Lake Road.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), the ambulance struck a car, whose drive Samantha Hathaway, 18, was killed. After crashing into Hathaway’s car, the ambulance veered to the left and hit two cars that were stopped at the intersection.

The THP reported that Amanda Carr, 22, of Mooresburg, Kala Murrell, 22, of Rogersville, Brenda Joyner, 39, of Chuckey, and Ashley Randall, 35, of Talbot, were injured the crash. Also injured was Sarina Hurd, 34, of Church Hill, along with three children in her vehicle, ages 4, 8, and 11.

The THP said that the ambulance was responding to an emergency call at the time of the accident. The accident remains under investigation.
