Ashland City is a town in the county seat of Cheatham County, Tennessee, with a population of 4,541 according to the 2010 U.S. Census. The city is located along the northeast bank of the Cumberland River, a few miles upstream from the river’s confluence with the Harpeth River.
The city has a total area of about 9.6 square miles, and has many popular landmarks including Sydney’s Bluff and the Cheatham Lock and Dam, which is the largest recreational area operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers The Dam offers camping, fishing, wildlife viewing, water sports, swimming and multiple children’s play areas.
The largest manufacturing operation in Ashland City is A.O. Smith. Popular roadways in Ashland City include Tennessee State Route 12, which connects to Nashville and Clarksville, and Tennessee State Route 49, which connects the city to Springfield and Kentucky to the northeast and Charlotte to the west. Tennessee Public Libraries serve the city.
Ashland City hosts many citywide festivals, as well as parks and recreational events including the Cumberland River Challenge, Summerfest and the Cumberland River Bicentennial Trail.
