According to WSMV-TV, a Nashville man was killed following a car accident near the corner of Chestnut Street and Second Avenue South.

Keith Verge, 47, was driving a 1993 Buick Roadmaster west on Chestnut Street when he made a right turn onto Second Avenue, colliding with a 2002 Nissan Xterra, which was traveling north on Second Avenue and had the green light, according to WSMV.

Verge and the driver of the Xterra, Amilcar Gamez, 48, were both transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Gamez’s injuries are not life threatening. Investigators said the likely contributing factor to this crash was a failure to yield on the part of Verge, and they said there was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement, according to WSMV. An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
