A 16-year-old boy who was thrown from his motorcycle while jumping railroad tracks in Nashville on June 6 died from his injuries. According to WTVF-TV, Michael Battle and another motorcyclist were spotted driving the wrong way on 2nd Avenue South, when police sent an alert out.
Soon after an alert was issued, witnesses told police they saw the motorcyclists jumping train tracks, near Chestnut Street near 4th Avenue. Battle allegedly lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown to the ground.
Battle was not wearing a helmet and was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later died. Police said that before they arrived to investigate the crash, a black General Motors SUV came and picked up the motorcycle that Battle was operating. Police said they found marijuana on Battle but were unsure if he was under the influence at the time of the crash, according to WTVF.
