A father and his daughter were seriously injured on October 11 in a Clarksville motorcycle accident.

According to WTVF-TV, Timothy Cutrell and his 16-year-old daughter were injured when a car in Montgomery County struck his motorcycle from behind. The crash happened near Highway 76 and Old Farmer’s Road.

Emergency investigators responding to another call were on the highway and witnessed the crash. According to Clarksville police, firefighters said that a car being driven by Francisco Jimenez was speeding down the road and hit the back of the motorcycle.

Cutrell and his daughter were both thrown from the motorcycle. Witnesses, including the firefighters, responded to the victims. The accident remains under investigation, as charges are pending.

MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENTS

Motorcycle accidents often result in catastrophic injuries like broken bones, amputation, spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries. These injuries can require extensive therapy and rehabilitation, which is costly.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, between 2004 and 2008, motorcycle crashes in the Volunteer State rose by an annual average of 9.2 percent. During this period, in Montgomery County there were 519 motorcycle accidents reported.

Often, because of negligence, the drivers of other vehicles are responsible for motorcycle accidents.
