According to a WTVF-TV, a man was charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication after he crashed his car on August 27 into a power pole in Hermitage, killing his passenger.
Police told the television station that Caleb Thomas, 25, was driving on Elm Hall Pike around 9 p.m., when he left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Thomas’ passenger 42-year-old Suzanne Moran, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she died.
WTVF reported that Thomas suffered minor injuries and police said that he showed indications of alcohol impairment. He reportedly failed field sobriety tests and smelled like alcohol. He reportedly told investigators that he consumed three shots of liquor prior to the accident.
Thomas was also charged with driving on a revoked license, and he was scheduled to appear this month in court for driving on citation he received in June for driving on a revoked license. His bond was set at $210,000.
