Each year, there are more than 150,000 vehicle crashes in the Volunteer State.
According to the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, this means that there is an average of nearly 500 accidents each day. This is alarming, as many accidents result in injuries like broken bones, paralysis, spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries (TBIs).
Sadly, some of these accidents are the result of defective auto products, including tires that crack or break, resulting in a blowout. Several news outlets report that every year, around 23,000 car or truck accidents occur because of tire blowouts.
Unfortunately, seven children were injured in a crash involving a tire blowout along I-24 eastbound in Coffee County on July 26. WSMV-TV reported that the crash occurred around 5 p.m. near mile marker 125, which is between Manchester and Monteagle.
The news outlet reported that Zhameca L. Hall, 41, was driving a Ford Econoline van east along I-24 when it blew a tire, causing it to crash. The van reportedly had four adults and seven children between the ages of 1-14 occupying it.
The passengers were reportedly members of a dance team from the Nashville Area. Three people, including two children, were flown to local hospitals, WSMV reported. Others were transported by ambulance to Manchester Medical and Vanderbilt Medical Center for injury treatment.
WHO SHOULD I SPEAK TO ABOUT AN ACCIDENT THAT OCCURRED BECAUSE OF A TIRE BLOWOUT?
If your loved one is injured in an accident involving a tire blowout, you should contact our attorney immediately. We can investigate if there were any defects with the specific tire that contributed to a crash.
Additionally, if your family member has been involved in an accident involving a private entity, you should seek compensation. Churches, schools and businesses are supposed to inspect vehicles regularly to maintain auto parts; this includes performing scheduled tire repairs.
Nashville injury attorney Stanley Davis is aware of the many ways that a defective auto parts accident can devastate a family.
