As we reported Wednesday, several major pedestrian accidents have been in the news lately.
Unfortunately, on January 24, a man was killed in Murfreesboro while crossing a street near Middle Tennessee State University in a wheelchair.
According to the Tennessean, David R. Chitwood, 28, was crossing Greenland Drive when he was hit by a dump truck. Police told the paper that the dump truck was turning right from Middle Tennessee Boulevard onto Greenland Drive.
Chitwood was transported to Middle Tennessee Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The Tennessean reported that he was a MTSU junior majoring in mass communication. Police identified the driver of the dump truck as Kevin Lee, 32, a Lebanon native.
Jacobs Construction Company owns the dump truck.
