According to WKRN-TV, an unlicensed driver has been charged in connection to a motorcycle accident that left a 64-year-old man dead in Bellevue on June 19.
The news station reported that the crash happened on Highway 70S, in front of Kroger just before 12:30 p.m.
Police told WKRN that Sabino Ajualip-Rosales, who was driving a tree service pickup truck at the time, said he was turning into the shopping center when the accident occurred and that the motorcycle crashed into the equipment trailer towed by his truck.
The motorcyclist was identified as William Schmidt, who was ejected from his Harley Davidson bike and pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Police said that Ajualip-Rosales is an employee of Raul’s Tree Service and that he does not have a driver’s license.
Raul’s Tree Service’s owner Raul Cruz reportedly came to the scene of the crash, according to WKRN, and admitted he knew Ajualip-Rosales did not have a license, but allowed him to drive anyway, because he was shorthanded.
Ajualip-Rosales was charged with driving without a license and failure to exercise due care. Cruz also received a misdemeanor citation for allowing an unlicensed driver to operate his pickup truck, according to WKRN.
CAN I FILE A WRONGFUL DEATH LAWSUIT IF MY LOVED ONE IS KILLED IN A NASHVILLE MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT?
With the upcoming Fourth of July holiday, you should expect more motorcyclists on the road. Drivers should use caution when they are commuting around motorcyclists—recently, the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) reported that there were more than 2,800 motorcycle crashes in the state in 2013, resulting in 135 deaths.
If you are out on the road this weekend celebrating the holiday, remember that motorcyclists have the same rights, privileges and responsibilities as any other motorist on the roadway. Your ability to remain alert could be the difference between an accident involving an injury or death.
In addition to wrongful death, motorcycle accidents often result in serious personal injuries, including traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injuries, amputation and broken bones.
If you are ever injured in a motorcycle accident or you lose a loved one, you should seek compensation. Do not let a negligent driver victimize you. Call us to seek damages.

Davis’ Words of Wisdom: From January 1 through May 1 this year, there were 337 motorcycle accidents in Tennessee.
