Sadly, each year, approximately 100 employees in Tennessee are hurt in workplace accidents. Additionally, dozens are killed instantly or die later as a result of catastrophic injuries.
These accidents can occur for a number of reasons, including violence, fires and explosions, transportation mishaps and slip and falls. Often, accidents are a direct result of negligence of employers, as every company has a duty to make sure safety is a top priority.
Tragically, on October 14, a worker died after falling at a nuclear processing facility in Erwin. According to the Associated Press, the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the accident, which occurred at Erwin Resin Solutions.
The plant reportedly specializes in the recycling, processing and disposal of nuclear material.
The employee reportedly fell into a vault where radioactive resins are unloaded before they are taken to be processed. The AP reported that the man was transported to a hospital after his fall, but his injuries were too much to overcome, and he died a short time later.
