According to WKRN-TV, a man was recently charged in connection to a hit-and-run accident after he crashed his vehicle into a pedestrian and a Nashville home.

The station reported that the accident occurred on June 28 at about 8:30 p.m., on Premier Drive, near Charlotte Avenue. According to police, the pedestrian victim was standing near the home when he was struck. After the pedestrian was struck, the truck being driven by the suspect crashed into the bedroom of the home. Thankfully, nobody was in the bedroom at the time of the accident.

WKRN reported that the driver, 25, fled the scene of the accident before his roommate called police. The roommate suspected something wrong, as the man was allegedly covered in blood when he arrived home. The roommate questioned the man, who admitted that he had been involved in a crash.

Police officers were able to recover the clothes the suspect was wearing. He allegedly admitted to drinking five beers prior to the crash. He was charged with felony vehicular assault, leaving the scene of an accident and for not having a driver’s license. Additional charges are pending, per the result of an investigation.

DRUNK DRIVING CAN LEAD TO VIOLENT CAR ACCIDENTS

Last year, we discussed how home-vehicle collisions are often the result of drunk, distracted or fatigued drivers. Remember, drunk driving can lead to a loss in coordination and violent collisions—this includes crashes into pedestrians, homes, signs or trees.

Once a driver reaches a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or higher, his or her balance, speech, vision, reaction time and hearing can become impaired. This can result in poor perception, leading to collisions. This is why the authorities take drunk driving so seriously.

If a drunk driver injures you, you must hold him or her liable. Visit our verdicts and settlements page to see how our Nashville injury attorney has helped drunk driving accident victims.
