Tragically, on October 12, a young couple and their 11-day-old child were killed in a head-on car accident in Houston County.
According to WKRN-TV, the crash happened at around 5:15 p.m. on Highway 13, near the Houston and Humphreys’ county line. The crash killed a 19-year-old woman, a 20-year-old man and their infant.
The news outlet reported that the driver of a pickup truck crossed the double yellow lines and hit their sedan head-on.
The infant was reportedly in a car seat when the crash occurred and the father of the child was wearing a seatbelt. The mother was allegedly not wearing a seatbelt, although investigators said “restraints would not have made a difference” in her living because the crash was so violent, according to WKRN.
The truck allegedly flipped over during the crash and its driver had to be transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment. The accident remains under investigation.
The Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle reported last week that the truck driver had been involved in a similar head-on accident in Indiana several years ago, which resulted in the death of a passenger in his vehicle.
