According to WBBJ-TV, five employees were injured recently in Gibson County at a ConAgra Foods plant when a pipe filled with caramel burst.

The news outlet reported that the incident took place on July 30, inside a food processing plant on North Central Avenue. The injured workers sustained serious burns, according to WBBJ, although the injuries were not considered to be life threatening.

The employees who were injured were taken to hospitals in Humboldt for treatment. One person was transported via helicopter to a Memphis hospital for serious injury treatment.

ConAgra released a statement after the incident saying that the employees had followed “established protocols and immediately contacted emergency response personnel,” following the incident.

It remains unclear why the pipe burst. The accident remains under investigation.

OUR NASHVILLE INJURY ATTORNEY CAN REVIEW YOUR WORKPLACE ACCIDENT

As we reported in Wednesday’s blog, if you have been injured at work, due to the complexity of workers’ compensation laws, it may be in your best interest to speak to an attorney.

You will want to make sure that all legal forms are filled out properly and that your employer covers medical costs for as long as required by your authorized treating physician.

Additionally, our Nashville workplace accident attorney can investigate your case and determine if multiple parties were responsible for your injury. In some cases, equipment defects can lead to third-party lawsuits, in which an employee can hold a manufacture liable in addition to his or her employer, following an injury incident.

You can contact our Nashville workplace accident attorney now by using the live chat option located on this page or by calling the number listed above.
